LumiCut supports all video formats that macOS and iOS can read, including MP4, MOV, M4V, and AVI. For best results, use H.264 or H.265 (HEVC) encoded videos.
Toggle on "Subtitles" in the right panel. The App uses WhisperKit (open-source) with CoreML models bundled in the app to transcribe your video's audio entirely on-device. No download or internet connection required. Choose from 7 caption styles: Classic, Bold Pop, Outline, Boxed, Karaoke, Neon, and Fill. You can also pick an animation style and accent color.
AI-Frame uses Apple's Vision framework to detect people in your video and automatically keeps them centered in the 9:16 crop. Enable it in the export settings panel. It works best with videos that have a clear subject.
AI Shorts analyzes your long-form video to automatically find the best 30-60 second clips. It uses face engagement detection, transcript analysis, and silence detection to score and select the most engaging moments. You can also enable filler word removal, hook text overlays, and end cards for each clip.
Multi-Format export renders your video to multiple aspect ratios in a single batch: 9:16 (vertical), 1:1 (square), 4:5 (Instagram portrait), and 16:9 (landscape). Each format is saved as a separate file.
No. All video processing, subtitle generation, and AI features run entirely on your device. No video, audio, or personal data is ever uploaded. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Common shortcuts:
Templates let you create polished, multi-clip videos in seconds. Tap the Templates tab, browse by category (Travel, Food, Fitness, etc.), and pick a template. Each template defines clip count, durations, transitions, text overlays, and caption styles.
After selecting a template, assign video clips to each slot from your photo library. The app intelligently trims longer clips to fit using face detection and speech analysis. Preview your video in real time, adjust text, then export.
You can also create Custom Templates by tapping the "+ Create" button. Set the number of clips, per-clip durations, transitions, text overlays, and color scheme. Custom templates are saved under "My Templates" for reuse.
On iOS, you can share a video directly from the Photos app into LumiCut:
You can also open videos from the Files app using the "Open In" option.

You can also manage subscriptions in the App Store app under your account.
On the Free tier, all exports include a small LumiCut watermark. Subscribe to any paid plan (Creator or higher) to remove the watermark on all export types.
